Du 109 - Atelier d'art Germain Desbiens, sculpteur-muraliste |
This artist was born in Chicoutimi, Saguenay. During his childhood his artistic talent was discovered. For twelve years, he developed a passion for classical music and studied it, which was his first way of expression. That brought him to participate in the creation of the Saguenay-Lac St-Jean Symphonic Orchestra. Curious of everything, music did not satisfy him sufficiently anymore and he turned himself towards visual arts. Preferring sculpture and working on mural, he uses noble and contemporary materials such as: bronze, aluminium, concrete and different cements. His curiosity goes beyond the technique that he confronts to his expression and challenge of equilibrium, masses and composition. His three-dimensional approach favours autonomous values of the form in its context. Being recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, that granted him participation in various expositions (solo and in team) which ultimately brought him to St-Malo and Valloire in France. He is inspired by his constant need of joining forces of the matter to those of human kind, and to create environmental harmony through the integration of his works with architecture and nature. He now dedicates himself full time to the creation of his sculptures and murals. « In order to create, one needs passion but not compassion», that is his motto.
